Christmas Is Jesus Cantata

The adult choir of Evangelical United Methodist Church continues the tradition of presenting special musicals to the community. This Christmas season, the choir will present the cantata Christmas is Jesus. Created by Mike Speck, and arranged by Mike Speck, Lari Goss, and Danny Zalondik, this musical rings out loud and clear the true reason for our seasonal celebration.
A unique song in this musical is called Simeon. It tells the story of Simeon, who was told he would not die until he saw the Messiah.
Mixed with new Christmas numbers are traditional songs such as God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen; Joy to the World!; Go Tell It on the Mountain; and O Come, All Ye Faithful; and Silent Night! Holy Night!
The choir has been practicing this musical since September. Performances
at Evangelical United Methodist Church will be on Thursday, December 9th and Friday, December 10th at 7:00 p.m., and on Sunday, December 12th at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
Choir members include Natalie Bartrom, Courtney Byerly, Ron Carnes, Nondus Christman, David Donaldson, Adam Drummond, Norma Fisher, Glenda Giggy, Judy Harrell, Bob Jennings, Jennifer Jennings, Susy Jennings, Vickie Kiefer, Lynda Laatsch, Sharon Laupp, Marti Lundy, Doug McElhaney, Drew McElhaney, Janice McElhaney, Jenna McElhaney, Lindsay McElhaney, Tom McElhaney, Cierra Miller, Mark Moudy, Phyllis Pieper, Tom Rudig, Brittney Stephan, Marissa Stephan, Matt Stephenson, Myra Strum, and Sam Wright. The narrator is Kathy Carnes. Nathan Lundy and Isaiah Laatsch are the sound technicians. The choir is directed by Mark Kiefer.
