CMS Outstanding 8th Graders

On Monday 1/30/2012 Huntington Metro Kiwanis recognized Crestview  outstanding 8th graders who were selected by the Huntington
Crestview Middle School Staff for each individuals accomplishments and who have excelled in scholarship, citizenship, sportsmanship, character-building activities, extra-curricular achievement, volunteering and leadership. Chad Daughtery principal at Crestview attended the meeting and dinner honoring the outstanding students. Mr. Daughtery spoke about the outstanding students as special people that are a shining example to others in the community and at Crestview middle school. He also spoke brief ly on each recipient’s character and involvement at Crestview. He thanked Huntington Metro Kiwanis for honoring these students and the parents for their support. Mr. Daughtery then introduced Marissa Jamison  daughter of Jill and Kevin Jamison and Jamison Kline son of  Dan and Ronda Jamison as the outstanding 8th graders.

 

          Marissa Jamison introduced her parents, sister Katie, grandparents Judy Michel & Sharon Jamison thanking them for the impact they have had on her life and taught her most importantly to have faith and trust in God. She also thanked the teachers, coaches and friends for their influence and encouragement. Also she thanked Metro Kiwanis for the recognition for this honor. Marissa loves sports and has participated in basketball, track and cross country. Marissa said that one of her favorite experiences at Crestview was being and assistant coach for the 6th grade basketball team. Although sports keep Marissa busy with school and travel teams she makes sure that school work  is her top priority.  Marissa plans on attending college but, is undecided at this time where and what field of study.

Marissa has loved her involvement in the mornings with campus life, bible study and student leaders. She also enjoys church youth group on Sunday evenings and sharing her faith with peers has also been rewarding. Marissa closed in thanking the Huntington Metro Kiwanis and Crestview staff for this wonderful honor, experience and evening.

 

 

 

 

Jamison Kline introduced his parents and grandparents Don & Pasty Kline and Duane & Rachel Kline. Jamison thanked Metro Kiwanis for this award and also thanked Mr. Daugherty and his teachers for their help his and selection as outstanding 8th grader, they have been a big influence to his in school career and other activities. Jamison thanked his parents for everything they have done for him. He also thanked his grandparents for being there whenever he needed them. Most importantly Jamison wanted to thank Jesus Christ from whom all of this is possible.

 

Jamison has been involved in many things throughout his time at Crestview.  He has participated in soccer, basketball, campus life and Youth for Christ. By participating in these activities it has taught Jamison the value of sportsmanship, teamwork and leadership.  Jamison has also participated in mission trips through his church. Jamison concluded by thanking Mr. Daughtery, Crestview staff and Huntington Metro Kiwanis for this honor and evening.

 

Each student received a plaque and will have his or her names engraved on the outstanding student plaque that was made by Huntington Metro Kiwanis member Jim Dinius. The plague is displayed in a prominent place in the school. Congratulations to each student on being outstanding 8th grader.
