All HCCSC schools are on lockdown as a precaution while Huntington Police hunt for suspects in an armed robbery at Beacon Credit Union on Commercial Drive Thursday morning. This is just as a precaution to keep all students and staff safe.
This statement is from the Huntington County Community School Corporation with an announcement pertaining to school safety. Earlier this morning, school officials were alerted of a robbery that took place on the north side of the city of Huntington. In response, all HCCSC schools immediately implemented lock down procedures. All doors were locked and remain locked at each building as a precautionary measure while law enforcement officers work to locate the suspects. Students and staff remain in the buildings and are continuing their day as usual. No recess or physical education classes are taking place outside the building today. Entrances and exits are being monitored very closely throughout the day. There have been no direct threats to buildings or students, all actions were taken as precautionary safety measures only.
