Each year the Indiana Department of Education sifts through the state’s top “Teachers of the Year”. Applications are submitted by each school corporation throughout state. Mrs. Melanie Park, the Huntington County Community School Corporation 2011 Teacher of the Year, has been selected as one of the state’s top ten. Mrs. Park attended an interview in Indianapolis on Friday, September 23, 2011 in preparation for the IDOE to select its State Teacher of the Year.
Mrs. Park is a Reading Specialist Teacher at Riverview Middle School. She applied for and was awarded a Lilly Endowment Teacher Creativity Fellowship Grant in which she traveled to Europe this past summer. The last person from the Huntington County Community School Corporation to rise to the top 10 level in the state was her husband, Mr. Steve Park, HCCSC 2009 Teacher of the Year. Mr. Park is a Science teacher at Riverview Middle School.
