On Friday, May 14, 2010, Huntington Catholic School held its traditional May Crowning. This year Mary Simms, Grade 8, was escorted by Stuart Elmore, Grade 8, as she crowned the Blessed Mother at St. Mary Grotto. The students placed flowers at the statue of Mary, sang songs in honor of the Blessed Mother and then prayed the rosary with each grade from Grade 1 through Grade 8 taking part. The May Crowning is a Catholic tradition since May is the month of Mother’s Day and Mary is the mother of the Church.
