May Optimist Youth Appreciation Awards

The Optimist Club of Huntington awarded their May 2011 Youth Appreciation Awards to the following Huntington North High School students:
LATISHA GRIMME
Daughter of Adam and Tami Grimme
Senior at Huntington North High School
At HNHS, Latisha is involved in Freshman Mentoring, Psychology Club, German Club, Service Club, Future Educators of America (FEA), and National Honor Society. She is an Academic Letter winner and has served as an intern teacher and peer tutor.
BRITTNEY STEPHAN
Daughter of Ernie and Tami Stephan
Senior at Huntington North High School
At HNHS, Brittney is involved in FFA, Freshman Mentoring, German Club (President), Future Educators of America (FEA), Tennis, Student Athletic Board, Math Competition, Student Council, Band, and National Honor Society. She is an Academic Letter winner, Scholar Athlete, Hoosier State delegate, and has served as a peer tutor. She is a member of 4-H and a student pastoral intern at Evangelical United Methodist Church where she has led several community service projects.
JERRY “TREY” MEEHAN
Son of Jerry and Laura Meehan
Senior at Huntington North High School
At HNHS, Trey is involved in Student Council, Class Council, Student Athletic Board, Psychology Club, Service Club (President), Freshman Mentoring, and National Honor Society (President). He is a member of St Peter and Paul Catholic Church and he is an Academic Letter winner.
The motto of Optimist International is “Friend of Youth”. In keeping with this motto, the Huntington Optimist Club has designated its Optimist Youth Appreciation Award to recognize a few of the outstanding young people in our community.
The Youth Appreciation Award is awarded each year to two (2) students from each of the Huntington County Middle Schools and three (3) students from Huntington North High School who demonstrate outstanding dedication and service to their school, the community and its citizens. The Youth Appreciation Award winners are announced and presented at a Huntington Optimist Club meeting.
