Beerbower earns AOW honors

HUNTINGTON, IN— The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of November 30-December 6, 2009.  Women’s basketball senior Courtney Beerbower earned the honor for her outstanding effort during the week’s competitions.

Courtney Beerbower, an Elementary/Special Education major from Auburn, Indiana (DeKalb High School), led the Foresters past the University of Northwestern Ohio on Tuesday before heading into Thanksgiving break.  Coming into the contest, she needed only three points to score her 1000th career point.  She finished with 14 points and nine rebounds.  Courtney is the 18th women’s basketball player to join HU’s 1,000 point club.  The Foresters (6-2) return to action on Wednesday, December 2 when they host Taylor University at 7:00 p.m.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past twelve years, Huntington has produced 70 NAIA All-America honors and 186 All-America Scholar Athlete honors. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations.
