Lancaster Students Raise Money for Riley

A holiday tradition at Lancaster Elementary will help raise money for young patients at Riley Hospital for Children.

Lancaster's fourth graders were visited by jewelry designer, Candie Cooper, on Friday, February 19th.  She teaches workshops nationally and internationally. She is a writer of several published books.

Lancaster Spelling Bee Winner

Lancaster Elementary's Spelling Bee was held on January 11, 2010.

Happy Thanksgiving at Lancaster!

A special guest helped students in Mrs. Paff’s Kindergarten class learn about Thanksgiving today at school.

Mrs. Johns, a full Cherokee Native American, along with her daughter and son-in-law taught the students several Cherokee customs.  Students learned how to weave, make talking feathers, make cornmeal, speak some Cherokee words, and much more... Read More...

1st graders use their math skills

Last week, Lancaster's 1st graders used their math skills by measuring different pumpkins at various sizes, counting and eating the seeds, and by weighing  them before and after they cleaned them out.

Their favorite part was creating unique jack-o-lantern faces.

Lancaster Red Ribbon Week

Lancaster School participated in an all school walk on Thursday, October 29 to celebrate Red Ribbon Week. Students participated in several activities this week,  signing a banner in the hallway to pledge that they will be drug free, sidewalk chalk and bubbles at recess,  an all school walk, and everyone received a a red bracelet displaying their pledge to be drug free and their choice to have healthy lifestyle... Yes we CAN!   This week, students at Lancaster School showed their support for the United Way by participating in various activities to raise money. On Thursday, students brought in canned goods for LOVE, Inc. Pictured are Karmen Koch, Kasey Konz and Kyle Laux.  

Lancaster's United Way drive starts

Lancaster Elementary School kicked off its United Way drive. 

The drive got off to a "moo-cho" marvelous start with a skit by the student council and a surprise visit from the "moo-ney" cow, encouraging students to give back to the community.

 

Lancers study Johnny Appleseed

Lancaster Elementary School first graders are studying Johnny Appleseed.

During their studies the children enjoyed different apple treats, learning about Johnny Appleseed and "Where in the USA" he was by incorporating songs, finger plays, language arts and math activities.

Lancaster's Harvest Festival last Friday

Lancaster's Harvest Festival Fun Night was enjoyed by Lancaster families on Friday night, October 17.

The evening was filled with many things to do and eat.  There were hayrides, crafts, Bingo, an auction, and chili and hot dogs.

Lancaster students visit pumpkin patch

The kindergarten students at Lancaster Elementary School took an exciting field trip to Brennen’s Pumpkin Kingdom on Thursday, October 1.

On the field trip, the students learned about the lifestyle of a pumpkin, the different types of pumpkins, and at the end of the trip each student was able to take home their own pumpkin!

The students were surprised to learn that pumpkins can be big or small, or even white!
