Lincoln Elementary awards scholarships

Four Huntington North High School seniors: Ashley Arquette, Jessica Beaty, Eric Denney, and Joshua McIntyre, have been awarded the Lincoln Elementary Heith Garner Scholarship in the amount of $250 each.

Ashley Arquette is the daughter of Billy Arquette, Jr. and Angela Stratton.  Her high schoool activities included Arts Express and preschool volunteering.  She plans to attend Ivy Tech and major in Early Childhood Development.

Jessica Beaty is the daughter of David and Teri Beaty.  She participated in National Honor Society, Color Guard, Marching Band, Spring Musicals, Psychology Club, and Mask and Gavel Club.  She will major in Social Work at Huntington University.

Eric Denney, the son of Bruce and Julie Denny, was a member of National Honor Society and participated in peer tutoring.  He plans to attend IPFW with a major in Business Management.

Joshua McIntyre is the son of Steve McIntyre and Shawn McIntyre.  At Huntington North he earned varsity letters in Track and Cross Country, and was a member of the National Honor Society and Psychology Club.  He was also a peer tutor.  He will major in History and Education at Huntington University.

The scholarship is awarded each year to former Lincoln Elementary students who plan to attend college.  Lincoln Caring Families, mini mall earnings and donations provide the funds.  It was begun in 1997 to honor and remember former Lincoln student Heith Garner.
