Lincoln Students Help Haiti

By Anita Henry on Wednesday, February 24th, 2010 | Bookmark and Share

Lincoln Elementary fifth-grader Jacob Garlits organized a fund drive for the earthquake victims of Haiti in February.

He and his committee created a flyer to send to parents, decorated collection boxes, and presented a skit over video announcements. They kept track of daily donations on a bulletin board graph, and had a special “Hat Day” when students could wear hats for a quarter.

Mr. Thompsons’s class and Mrs. Oden’s class added some of their mini mall profits to the effort. In all, they collected over $335 to present to the Red Cross to send to Haiti.
