Northwest's 3rd Grade Social Action

Third grade students are sorting pasta and dish soap at Northwest Elementary School.

As part of a social action project, the third grade students are encouraged to do extra chores at home to earn money to pay for items such as noodles or dish soap.

Northwest Celebrates 4 Star Award

Students and staff at Northwest Elementary had a mini-celebration in honor of the school receiving 4 star status from the Indiana Department of Education. Out of 750 schools in Indiana only 188 (25%) were awarded this award. Only 3 achieved this status in Huntington County. Four criteria areas are looked at for a school to receive this award: 1) ISTEP Math performance, 2) ISTEP Language – Reading performance, 3) attendance, and 4) Percent of students passing both Language and Math on ISTEP... Northwest's Spelling Bee

On Tuesday, January 12th, the 5th grade students at Northwest Elementary School participated in the school spelling bee. They were given a preliminary test of 50 words. Northwest Students Read to Preschoolers

Select fourth and fifth grade students from Northwest Elementary School enjoyed a trip to visit the Lincoln Elementary Preschool class.  While there, Northwest students read to the preschool students and enjoyed playing some games.  The students were excited to donate the books that they read to the preschool classroom library! Steve Seskin visits Northwest
