Field Day Fun

Roanoke Elementary School held their annual "Field Day" on Thursday, May 27th.  The fifth graders ran each of the many games that were set up around the school, and the other grades went from game to game.  We had many water games which was great because of the heat.  Students were able to purchase healthy snacks to keep them going throughout the day... Cookies for Sale

The 2nd graders here at Roanoke Elementary School recently sold almost 500 cookies for their social action project.  The proceeds were divided among "Helping Paws", "Huntington County Humane Shelter", and the "Huntington House".  There was a check given to each organization in the amount of $135... Walking for a Great Cause

The 5th graders from Roanoke Elementary School recently did an activity in math to see which brand of cereal had the most raisins in it.

After the time consuming task of sorting all the raisins from the rest of the cereal and then counting all the raisins, the winner ended up being "Great Value Raisin Bran" from Wal-Mart (regular, not crunchy)... Read More...

Origami Fun at Roanoke Elementary

Roanoke Elementary School had the privilege of having author/origami artist, Christine Petrell Kallevig come to the school this week to share some of her "Storigamis" with us.

'Miniature Mania' held at Roanoke

One of the many Spring Enrichment classes offered at Roanoke Elementary School was "Miniature Mania". 

In "Miniature Mania" students created a 8 X 10 inch room box entitled "A View from the Balcony".  Students then constructed a miniature side table and lounge chair along with other items to fill their balcony and they were able to choose what "view" they would like to have from their balcony...
