Poetry Cafe at Roanoke

Some cool projects in 2nd grade

The second graders at Roanoke Elementary School just recently finished projects on the Arctic and Antarctica, and these projects were on display during our recent "Science Experience Night".

Science Experience Night in Roanoke

Roanoke Elementary School held their "Science Experience Night" on Thursday, February 25th.

Each grade level had different activities in their classrooms which included such things as hands-on measuring and solar system related activities, making seed books and doing seed activities on the computer, creating a penguin, playing polar plunge and doing other activities that pertain to the Arctic and Antarctica... Could You Have Been a Minuteman?

Fifth graders at Roanoke have been learning about the Revolutionary War.  As a fun activity to go along with this unit, the fifth grade teachers had the students see if they could get dressed as quickly as the minutemen of the Revolutionary War.  The minutemen were men that "had to be ready to fight on a minute's notice just before and during the Revolutionary War in the United States"... Fort Wayne Philharmonic comes to Roanoke

From December 7th –18th 2009 Roanoke Student Council sold a favorite to their school, Santa Suckers!

Roanoke Tea Party

The fifth grade students at Roanoke had there own "Boston Tea Party" as part of studying the American Revolution.  During the tea party, students wrote letters to the King of England asking him to quit taxing colonial items.

Spelling Bee held at Roanoke

On Thursday, January 14th we held our Spelling Bee here at Roanoke Elementary School.

We had 39 students participate in the Spelling Bee.  The runner-up was Jacob Bickel.  Jacob's parents are Matt and Jennifer Bickel of Roanoke, Indiana.
