Teacher comments: “Ben is a hard working, kind and responsible young man. He is an outstanding role model for the younger students in our school. He has an ability to quickly grasp information and is willing to help others in his class also understand the material being presented in a lesson.”
The motto of Optimist International is “Friend of Youth”. In keeping with this motto, the Huntington Optimist Club has designated its Optimist Youth Appreciation Award to recognize a few of the outstanding young people in our community.
The Youth Appreciation Award is awarded each year to two (2) students from each of the Huntington County Middle Schools and three (3) students from Huntington North High School who demonstrate outstanding dedication and service to their school, the community and its citizens. The Youth Appreciation Award winners are announced and presented at a Huntington Optimist Club meeting.
