The Huntington County Assessor’s Office sent out Form 11’s on Friday, September 10, 2010. The Form 11, notice of assessment of land and structures, is the taxpayer’s formal notice of their assessment for 2010 pay 2011. The Assessor’s Office chose to send the form to only those properties that have INCREASED; therefore, saving the county money. The assessments for 2010 pay 2011 have increased for one of the following reasons:
1. Ag Land Base Rate. The base rate for 2009 was $1250/acre and increased to $1290 for 2010.
2. New Construction or completion since March 2, 2009.
3. Annual Adjustment (Trending).
We encourage all taxpayers to inquire about their assessments at this time regardless of receipt of a Form 11. You may access the current property record cards at gis.huntington.in.us. Please feel free to contact the County Assessor’s Office Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for any questions or concerns. The deadline to protest the 2010 pay 2011 is October 25, 2010. Protesting may be done by a Form 130 or a written letter indicating the taxpayer’s name, address, parcel, contact phone number, and reasons for protesting. The Form 130 is available online at http://www.in.gov/dlgf/8516.htm or in the Assessor’s Office. We appreciate the taxpayers’ interest and involvement in the assessment of their property.
