Huntington County Property Taxes are due MAY 10 AND NOVEMBER 10, 2011. Statements for Huntington County were mailed Monday 3-28-11 from the County Treasurer’s office.  Tax payers may pay their property taxes at the Court House Monday – Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm.  Payments may also be paid at local banks in Huntington County and by mail.  Credit or Debit cards are not accepted in the Treasurer’s office. A website is available to pay online at www.huntingtontax.net or you may call 1-800-809-5849.  A convenience fee will be charged by PowerPay.  Taxpayers must send or bring their tax coupon when paying.  Make checks payable to the Huntington County Treasurer.  Receipts will be returned by mail if a Postage Paid, Self Address Envelope is sent with the payment.

Taxpayers should look carefully at the TS-1A (comparison) statement, which is a Summary of your Taxes, for changes that have occurred from last year. The State is no longer giving taxpayers the Homestead credit.  2010 was the last year for this type of credit, found in Table 1, 4b of your TS-1A form.  Credits and savings listed in section 4 of Table 1 are tax relief credits given by the State, City and/or County to help reduce property tax bills.  The Homestead Credit should not be confused with a Homestead Deduction. PLEASE NOTE TABLE 5 FOR YOUR REGULAR EXEMPTIONS.

IF YOU HAVE THE HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION AND DID NOT TURN IN THE HOMESTEAD VERIFICATION FORM (PINK) IN 2010; YOU NEED TO BE AWARE THAT YOU HAVE 2011 AND 2012 TO FILL OUT THIS FORM CORRECTLY AND TURN INTO THE AUDITOR’S OFFICE.  IF IT IS NOT TURNED IN, YOUR HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION CAN BE PULLED THEREFORE INCREASING YOUR TAXES IN 2013.  WE NEED INFORMATION ON DEEDED OWNERS EVEN IF ONE IS DECEASED, PLEASE NOTE.  BE SURE TO FILL IN LAST FIVE DIGITS OF SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER AND DRIVER’S LICENSE NUMBER FOR ALL PARTIES.  PLEASE SIGN THE FORM, DATE, AND PUT YOUR PHONE NUMBER AS WELL; IN CASE WE NEED TO GET A HOLD OF YOU.

If taxpayers have not received all of their tax statements in the mail by April 15th please contact the County Treasurer’s office at 260-358-4860.
