Taxes due Nov 10 Tax Sale Oct 28 2010

Property Taxes will be due for the 2nd installment on Wednesday, November 10th, 2010.

Taxes can be paid at the following banking institutions in Huntington County; 1st Source Bank, Beacon Credit Union, Bippus State Bank, First Federal Savings Bank, Lake City Bank, MarkleBank, PNC bank, Wells Fargo Bank. You can also pay at the Treasurer’s Office, Room 104, of the Court House between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday.  For the public’s convenience, the Treasurer’s Office will be open Saturday, November 6th, from 8 a.m. to noon.

Credit cards are not accepted in the Treasurer’s Office. Credit Card payments are accepted ONLY by phone or onlineA convenience fee of 2.95% per parcel is charged for this service. You may pay by credit card by calling 1-800-809-5849 up to 5 o’clock.  Please have your tax bills ready, as you will be talking to an operator on the phone.  Credit card payments are also accepted online at www.huntingtontax.net up to midnight on November 10th. 

Payments can be mailed to: Huntington County Treasurer, 201 N Jefferson St. Rm 104, Huntington IN 46750.  Mail must be postmarked by 11/10/2010 to be considered “on time” and not receive a penalty.  If you request a receipt, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope and your payment receipt, found on the bottom, reverse side, of the tax bill marked “For Your Records”. This is the section for the paid receipt. If you pay by check, your check is your receipt and it is not necessary for a return receipt.

Penalties will be applied after November 10, 2010 for any unpaid taxes. A penalty of 5% will be applied for the first 30 days if you have a balance due and if no previous taxes are delinquent.  Delinquent payments must be made by Friday, December 10th to receive the 5% penalty. An additional 5% penalty will be added after 30 days. If you have any delinquent taxes prior to the 2nd Installment your penalty will automatically be 10% after Nov. 10th, 2010.

The Treasurer’s office will be closed after November 10th to process “on time” payments for approximately one week.  You may use the mail slot at the Treasurer’s office door to drop a payment or wait until our office is open to make delinquent payments.

If your Property is on TAX SALE payments must be received by Wednesday Oct. 27, 2010, or before, in the Treasurer’s office to be removed from the Tax Sale list.

The Tax Sale for Huntington County will be held in the Court House, Oct. 28, 2010 at 9:3 AM in the GAR room on the 2nd floor.  A list of properties and instructions to preregister can be found online at www.sri-taxsale.com.
