Sgt. Tony Knox of the Indiana State Police has released statistics from the K-9 program for 2011. There are presently 28 full service K-9 teams statewide.
· Searches (Narcotics) 2116
· Searches (All Others) 908
· Arrests 929
· Tracks 139
· Apprehensions 47
· Assists for other agencies 1048
· Marijuana seizures (pounds) 3049.78
· Cocaine seizures (pounds) 106.40
· Meth seizures (pounds) 3.07
· Heroin seizures (pounds) 2.92
· Total cash seizures $3,484,895
The Indiana State Police is committed to the use of its K-9 program, as a valuable asset to the public and other law enforcement agencies, in addressing crimes and offenders with diligent, conscientious and proactive initiatives.
