Steve McIntyre seeks fourth term

From the Committee to Re-elect Steve McIntyre
Huntington City Council member Steve McIntyre announced Tuesday he will seek a fourth four-year term in the 2011 municipal election. McIntyre represents council District 3, which covers the east and southeast part of the city.
He is currently the only elected official in Huntington to maintain a website (www.stevemcintyre.org) to better inform the citizens and give them a forum to discuss City business.
McIntyre stated he has always taken a “common sense” approach on City matters during his previous terms. If re-elected, his priorities would include his continuing quest in finding solutions for economic health. McIntyre led the effort a year ago by assembling a group of concerned citizens and business owners to provide a list of suggestions for which the City could save money and produce revenue without additional fees or taxes. The list, presented free of cost to the City administration last February during a regular Common Council meeting was cast aside in favor of Commissioning a study by Umbaugh and Associates at a cost of $60,000.00 and an addition time-loss of 9 months. Ultimately the Umbaugh Study, which McIntyre refused to vote in favor of financing, provided nothing that the free study hadn’t already suggested.
McIntyre believes that it is the citizens who make Huntington a great place to live and raise a family.
