What does the County Recorder do?

By Andrew Krieg on Sunday, September 26th, 2010 | Bookmark and Share

Citizens,

Since the start of the campaign I keep getting asked what does the Recorder do? The simple answer is keeping public records. The long answer according our incomplete county website:

Recorder

Mission

The elective office of county recorder was the first local office created by the Constitution of the state of Indiana in 1816. It is the primary duty of county recorders to record instruments submitted for recording and maintain those records for perpetuity. Documents for statistical record keeping purposes fall into four categories: deeds and other conveyances, mortgages and other liens and their releases, miscellaneous documents, and uniform commercial code documents.

I mention our incomplete website which if elected, it will be my promise to help complete the site with the ability to search for what documents you may have in the Recorder’s office. Plus I have looked at other counties Recorder pages to see what they offer the people of their county. There are a few programs I am looking at to see if it can be done in our county.

On the Huntington, County Recorder’s website has a link to click for Online Records; guess what Huntington when you click on the link you get a blank page. Then there is another link called Common Questions; when you click on that link this will not shock you; it is another blank page. We must ask the current Recorder why are there blank pages on our taxpayer’s website? It is time for complete leadership not blank pages. In these tough times it calls for action and completion of promises for the people. As the Democratic Nominee for County Recorder I will act upon my promise of new ideas, that are not part of the past 8 years.

I am a little disappointed to know my opponent has declined to debate on October 23rd, 2010. I however have accepted the invitation for the debate. I understand my opponent’s reasoning for not debating but go ask her in the office of County Recorder why she will not be debating. If my opponent don't want to debate that is her choice and American right. As citizens we need know about our local candidates stance on issues facing our community and I will share at anytime where I stand on those issues.

As I conclude this message I want to say thank you to those who have helped the campaign out so far. I look forward to November and receiving your vote. To all Citizens vote for new ideas and the Indiana Democratic Party slogan for Election 2010: “A new generation of leadership”. Vote Krieg for County Recorder! The new generation of leadership will be on the ballot in 2010; I am a part of the new generation of leadership that this County and State of Indiana needs. I have shared many times with people what I can bring to our local government if elected. Those new ideas cannot be put into action without enough votes to defeat a Recycled Politician. I am going to need your support and your vote on November 2nd. If you cannot make it to the polls there is early voting 30 days prior the election. Plus, absentee ballots that can be mailed in. Stop by the Clerks office for more information.

Thank You God Bless and May God Bless Indiana and the United States of America!

Sincerely,

Andrew Krieg
