State Rep. Dan Leonard (R-Leonard) joined the Spending Revolt Bus Tour yesterday evening for a rally asking Hoosiers to take a stand against the federal government’s reckless spending and bring spending reform to Washington D.C.
About 30 concerned constituents attended to listen to the Government Affairs Manager for Americans for Tax Reform, Mattie Corrao as well as local leaders. The constituents had the opportunity to sign the bus. Rep. Leonard signed the bus to show that he is taking a stand against the out-of-control federal spending.
The federal government is currently spending roughly $112,000 every second. In the ten minutes it typically takes someone to eat breakfast or take a shower, the federal government has spent $67 million.
“I support limited government. We are going to have a tough year ahead of us, but we aren’t going to take Washington, D.C.’s lead of “tax and spend”. In fact, we are going to work as hard as we can to create a balanced budget without raising taxes. We can’t keep passing this debt to our kids,” said Rep. Leonard.
Since November of 2007, Washington has spent more than $5 trillion in new debt.
“It is important for me, along with other House Republican members to take a stand on this issue. It is even part of our legislative plan,” stated Rep. Leonard.
All speakers emphasized the idea of citizens standing up and supporting immediate spending reform in order to protect all taxpayers.
The Spending Revolt Tour is made up of a coalition of taxpayers, families, business owners and non-partisan policy organizations. For more information, visit the Spending Revolt’s website at www.spendingrevolt.com.
