The Best Shape of your Life

This weekend, 74 Northeast Indiana residents will celebrate their health and fitness success at the culmination of the “Best Shape of Your Life Challenge.” The challenge, sponsored by Fort Wayne Strength and Conditioning, Parkview Physicians Group and Parkview Labs, was a six-week exercise and overall lifestyle makeover, designed to hold participants accountable for the way they ate, slept, and moved.

Organizers of the “Best Shape of Your Life Challenge” hosted a kickoff event Oct. 2 where participants learned the results of their pre-challenge lab work, had their body fat and weight measured, received a spinal exam by HealthSource Chiropractic of Fort Wayne Northwest, and performed a baseline workout. The event also included an overview that provided information about CrossFit, a workout regimen practiced at Fort Wayne Strength and Conditioning; details about the point and tracking system for the challenge; and question-and-answers about the Paleo Diet, which emphasizes lean meats, seafood, vegetables, fruits and nuts.

To encourage one another and provide resources, participants posted on a Facebook group page at www.facebook.com/#!/groups/185772821489459/.

Sunday from noon to 2:30 p.m., participants will meet at Fort Wayne Strength and Conditioning to review their post-challenge lab results, enjoy free food and drinks provided by Dicky’s Wild Hare, have their body fat and weight measured, and receive prizes in categories such as most weight lost to best overall workout time. Challenge organizers also awarded weekly prizes including gift certificates to Hopeful Farms in Ligonier, Ind., and Dicky’s Wild Hare; fitness equipment, and a discount on membership to Fort Wayne Strength and Conditioning.

The entire challenge, if priced out separately would have cost approximately $635, but in part because of the sponsorship of Parkview Physicians Group and Parkview Labs, Fort Wayne Strength and Conditioning offered the service for $129.
