Optimists have Youth Appreciation Awards

The motto of Optimist International is “Friend of Youth”.  In keeping with this motto, the Huntington Optimist Club has designated its Optimist Youth Appreciation Award to recognize a few of the outstanding young people in our community. The Youth Appreciation Award is awarded to two (2) students from each of the Huntington County Middle Schools and three (3) students from Huntington North High School who demonstrate outstanding dedication and service to their school, the community and its citizens... 2010 Kappa scholarships announced

The Laura Blackburn Scholarship is awarded yearly to a high school or college student majoring in education. This award is in honor of long-time teacher and Tri Kappa member Laura Blackburn. Alison Spahr, and Kayleigh Mower have each been awarded a $500 scholarship.
