On January 28, Huntington Metro Kiwanis members Sharon Rethlake,
Judy Deluca, Terri Edmiston, Trey Meehan, Jack Amick, Glenda Giggy & Barry
Giggy prepared and served breakfast to families staying at the Ronald McDonald
House in Indianapolis.
Families were served a buffet style breakfast by Huntington Metro Kiwanis
members. The families had their choice of egg casserole, scramble eggs, biscuits &
gravy, sausage links, bacon, homemade cinnamon rolls, toast, fruit, milk, coffee or
orange juice. The families made their selection from the buffet and then were seated
at tables with the assistance of Huntington Metro Kiwanis members. Each family
received a doll or toy to give their child that was in the hospital.
Last year Kiwanis clubs raised and spent more than $100 million on
community service activities, with special emphasis on meeting the needs of young
children around the world. Today Kiwanis number 8,600 clubs and 315,000
members in 83 countries around the world. Huntington Metro Kiwanis serves the
youth of Huntington county by Lap Reading program, Sponsorship of county
spelling bee, serving meal at boys & girls club, Terrific Kids program and
Scholarships.
