Yordy Retires after 27 Years

An Indiana State Police Sergeant who has dedicated the last 27 years of his life to the service of the citizens of the State of Indiana has announced his retirement from the Department.
Sergeant Michael R. Yordy, 50, is a Huntington native and a 1980 graduate of Huntington North High School. He was accepted to the 42nd Indiana State Police Recruit Academy in 1984, and on November 18th of that year he was appointed to the Department as a Trooper and assigned to the Seymour Post. He served that district for six years before transferring to the Bloomington Post.
In February 2009, Yordy transferred to the Fort Wayne Post where he served as the Squad Sergeant for the Troopers in DeKalb and Steuben Counties. During his career, he has served the Indiana State Police as a member of the Tactical Intervention Platoon, a field training officer, a technical crash investigator and in the High Performance Vehicle program in which he patrolled in both the Ford Mustang and the Chevrolet Camaro.
Yordy is the proud father of two children, Sierra (14) and Cameron (26), who is currently enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and has served on two deployments to the Middle East.
