It's official, Relay for Life 2010 is up and running as the Kick Off was held on Monday, Jan. 18 at Parkview Huntington Hospital! The evening was filled with not only a birthday party theme, but also a wealth of information for participants and team captains. Including the announcement that this year's Relay for Life will be held June 12-13 at Kreigbaum Field.
Relay chair, Dawn Miller, welcomed the group and shared that the goal of the evening was to answer any questions the group may have as well as building excitement for this year's Relay theme, "Imagine a world with more birthdays and less cancer, together we can make it happen!"
Amy Simmons, the American Cancer Society Representative, gave a brief history of Relay for Life and encouraged teams to start the process of their fundraising. Sally Grimes, the event Team Coordinator, passed out team packets to all the captains in attendance.
The next Relay for Life meeting will be held on Monday, February 15 at College Park Church, Room 201 with the committee meeting beginning at 6:00 pm and the team captain's meeting to follow at 7:00 pm. Anyone interested in participating is welcome to attend!
