On Friday 11/18/11 the Huntington Metro Kiwanis prepared and served a
Thanksgiving meal to the youth of the Boys and Girls club of Huntington including
their families. The meal consisted of Ham, Turkey, Dressing, Green Beans, Corn,
Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Macaroni and Cheese, Vegetable tray, brownies, cookies,
cupcakes, sugar cream pie, pecan pie and pumpkin pie. A total of 200 meals were
served to the youth of the boys and girls club, their families and the staff.
In the above photo Metro Kiwanis members (L-R) Jamie Miller, Sherrie Miller, Jon
Ellet, Jarid Miller, Leslie Zahm, Bob Zahm, Ann Oden and Sue Ellet are serving the
meal to some of the guest.
Other members helping prepare and serve were Steve Williams, Jim Dinius, Rita
Dinius, Glenda Giggy, Barry Giggy, Sharon Rethlake, Terry Oden, Judy DeLuca,
Pam Lewis, Evelyn Priddy and Kevin Amick.
Last year Kiwanis clubs raised and spent more than $100 million on
community service activities, with special emphasis on meeting the needs of young
children around the world. Today Kiwanis number 8,600 clubs and 315,000
members in 83 countries around the world.
