This year’s heavy rains have led to another partnership between Huntington County Habitat for Humanity and Love INC.
Across the parking lot from Love INC is their garage where they store their back-to-school clothing as it is donated ahead of time. The garage roof developed a leak, then this year’s rain made that leak bigger. Dee Street, of Love INC, said “the items we stored in there were getting soaked!”
Dick Widelski, who serves on the Board of Directors at Love INC, contacted Habitat to ask for help with roof repairs. Habitat’s construction committee, who are all volunteers, and John Bostel, Habitat’s Construction Supervisor, agreed to repair and re-shingle the garage roof.
This coming Saturday, June 11, from 8:00 a.m. to about 4:00 p.m., old shingles will be pulled off the 24’x24’ garage, damaged sheathing will be replaced, and 21 bundles of new shingles will be nailed down. Love INC volunteers will provide lunch for Habitat’s crew.
Habitat for Humanity and Love INC have partnered before to help approved families acquire household furnishings at even further reduced prices at Habitat’s ReStore.
