The Huntington County Historical Museum, located at 315 Court Street, is featuring vintage Christmas trees, an antique sleigh, and a special exhibit of collectible Santas during the month of December.
Shortly after their marriage in 1962, Phyllis and George Pieper of Huntington bought their first Santa at a Ben Franklin Store in Rockville, IN. Since that time, they have collected 400-500 Santas, always looking for a unique one. They joined a club after purchasing from the “Possible Dreams” collection at a shop in Brown County in 1994, and from there, George said, “It snowballed!” The Museum display features a sample of their extensive collection, and includes Santas depicting many nationalities, including Polish, Russian, Scandinavian, and South American.
The Museum is open from 10-4 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 1-4 on Saturday. Visitors are welcome and invited to view the holiday display.
