Miami Chief Jean Baptiste Richardville will be the topic for the March meeting of the Huntington County Historical Society, presented by Dwight Ericsson . Richardville was born about 1761 at the Miami village of Kekionga.  As chief, he established headquarters at the Forks of the Wabash west of Huntington.  He was a savvy businessman, and was said to have been the wealthiest Indian that ever lived.    He was highly regarded by the white men and he was known for his opposition to bloodshed and cruelty, counseling for peace. He presided as chief for about 50 years, until his death in 1841.

The meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15 at the museum located at 315 Court Street, and is free and open to the public.  Light refreshments will be served following the program.
