This past Saturday, Love In the Name of Christ held its seventh annual Back-to-School fair where over 300 students were helped. This was an increase from last year due to the economic conditions. Our community stepped up to help out those in time of need by giving 300 students, three sets of clothing including three pairs of socks and underwear. Students were entertained while waiting in line with clowns performing and volunteers offering face painting. At first, the children shied away from face painting, but in no time, one could see dozens of children running around with their faces, arms and legs painted.
Several groups were represented at the fair including the Literacy Coalition which gave one book to every child, church members who were giving out book bags, and the Youth Services Bureau who was signing up kids that were in need of school supplies.
In short, according to Love INC director, Bill Fetrow, this year's Back-to-School Fair was a huge success.
