On January 20th, McKenzie's Hope celebrated its Five Year Anniversary of opening its doors as a child friendly place for the investigations of child abuse. As a part of the celebration, McKenzie's Hope honored 12 donors who were added to the "Sun of Supporters" wall at McKenzie's Hope. These donors have made significant contributions to McKenzie's Hope over the last five years which has allowed McKenzie's Hope to continue to provide important services to the children in our community.
The supporters added to the wall included Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Warren Church of Christ, Kline's CPA Group, Johnson Junction, Philip & Sherilyn Wilcox, Michelle Stockman, Star Insurance Agency, Vectren, Matt & Amy Wilson, Ecolab, Physicians Health Plan, and Unilever. McKenzie's Hope would like to thank these community members for their commitment to protecting children in Huntington County.
In the five years since opening, McKenzie's Hope has served 593 children who needed a safe, comfortable location to talk about potential abuse situations in their lives. Of the 593 children served, 417 were girls and 176 were boys. The percentage of children seen who were 7 to 12 years old was 46%, and 27% percent of the children were from ages 0 to 6, and 27% percent of the children were from ages 13 to 18+. McKenzie's Hope is dedicated to providing a safe, compassionate, child-focused center to promptly and thoroughly investigate child abuse. The center coordinates a unified response to child abuse reports so that every child is treated with equal importance and care.
