The Northeast Indiana Disability Advocacy Coalition (NEIDAC), which consists of not-for-profit service providers and advocates for people with disabilities in northeast Indiana, will hold the third annual Abilities Abound Awards Reception on Friday, March 9th beginning at 5:30 P.M. at the Holiday Inn (at IPFW and the Coliseum) in Fort Wayne.
The event will feature award-winning author and nationally known public speaker, Rachel Simon. Her newest novel, The Story of Beautiful Girl, has recently debuted in paperback. Ms. Simon is best known for her critically acclaimed, bestselling memoir, Riding the Bus with My Sister, which was adapted for a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie of the same name. Ms. Simon will be signing copies of her books at the event. The Story of Beautiful Girl is available for $12.84 and Riding the Bus with My Sister is available for $16.05. All book purchases will need to be made in cash or check, and all checks should be made out to NEIDAC.
Highlights of the evening are presentations of three $1,000 Embolden Enrichment Grants. The deadline to submit applications for the Embolden Enrichment grant and essays for the Disability Awareness Month essay contest is February 24, 2012 and details can be found at
