Each year since 1990, on the first day of winter and the longest night of the year, the National Coalition for the Homeless (NCH), National Consumer Advisory Board (NCAB), and the National Health Care for the Homeless Council (NHCHC) has co-sponsored National Homeless Persons' Memorial Day to bring attention to the tragedy of homelessness and to remember our homeless friends who have paid the ultimate price for our nation's failure to end homelessness
Mayor Tom Henry read a proclamation from the City of Fort Wayne recognizing this day in Fort Wayne.
22 people from Malta House and Pathfinder Services in Huntington participated. Participants walked with candle light from the Rescue Mission on Superior Street to Headwaters Park in Fort Wayne.
The walk was sponsored by the Fort Wayne Area Planning Council on Homelessness which Pathfinder Services is a part of.
