Township Public Library invites teens to join Teen Book Club. Teen Book Club offers teens ages 13 – 18 a chance to explore different types of books and talk about them with other teens. Members will have an opportunity to read all types of books - adventures, fantasy, mysteries, drama, classics, legends, Newbery Award winners, and more.
November's book is The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak:
(information from the publisher, Alfred A. Knopf, an imprint of Random House Children's Books) out the Book:
It’s just a small story really, about among other things: a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. . . .
Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak’s groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can’t resist–books. With the help of her accordion-playing foster father, she learns to read and shares her stolen books with her neighbors during bombing raids as well as with the Jewish man hidden in her basement before he is marched to Dachau.
This is an unforgettable story about the ability of books to feed the soul.
Teen Book Club meets on the third Thursday of the month at the Main Library, 255 West Park Drive, Huntington. If you’d like to come to Teen Book Club, visit the Reference Desk to pick up a book club packet and parental permission slip.
Anyone who joins Teen Book Club will earn a stamp on their Teen Book Club prize card for each Book Club meeting attended. Once you have ten stamps on your Teen Book Club prize card, you get to choose a free book to keep.
