The holiday season is fast approaching, and that means the annual Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign is in full swing! Toy collection boxes have been placed at several locations throughout town. Your donation of a new, unwrapped toy will help make a merrier Christmas for a child in Huntington County. This year, more than ever before, we need your help to make the toy drive a success!
As of this writing, we have been able to place toy collection boxes at the following merchants and organizations: Owens Grocery stores, Richards Restaurant, Beacon Credit Union, Juergens Do-It-Best, Huntington Theater, Bippus State Bank Branches, First Federal Bank Branches, Pizza Hut, Bob Evans, Huntington YMCA, Kid’s Kampus, Walgreens, Big Lot, Papa Johns Pizza, Fiesta Hair Salon, Maurices, Coach House Spa, The Desk/Copy Stop, Dollar General South, Gib Young State Farm Insurance, Dr. Eckert, DDS, American Legion Posts, VFW Post, Eagles Lodge, the Huntington County Courthouse, the Huntington City Building, Central Christian Church, and the Evangelical United Methodist Church.
We want to thank each of these merchants and organizations for being part of the “Toys for Tots Team”! We will be collecting toys at these locations from now through December 13. We would also like to highlight another exciting Toys for Tots opportunity coming to Huntington University on Thursday, Dec. 3. The “Winter Wonder Slam Tour” featuring Grammy and Dove award winning artist Toby Mac, along with Stephanie Smith, and local favorites Attaboy will be held at the Merrilat Physical Eductation Center Fieldhouse that evening.
Toby Mac and the Winter Wonder Slam Tour has partnered with Toys for Tots on a national basis each year, and this year’s concert, will directly benefit our community. Toby asks that each person attending the concert bring a toy to donate. All toys donated that evening will stay here in the local community to help those in need. For more information about this concert, please call Huntington University Merrilat Center for the Arts, or Trinity Communications.
