VFW Post 2689 Ladies Aux Special Project for Camp Atterbury USO Chrmn., Pauline Gearhart is driving a project to collect paper products, peanut butter and jelly, and DVD’s for the new USO Club there. She did a “freeze out” in the Post parking lot on February 4th shooting for 100 DVD’s plus paper products and money. Falling short of the goal, Todd Nightenhelser, owner of The Collectors Box, donated one for each one sold at his stores in Huntington and Marion last weekend. He is seen here donating over 300 DVD’s for Camp Atterbury. Along with that, Men's Aux members, Ladies Aux members & Post 2689 membership donated cases of Peanut Butter, Jelly, paper towels, napkins, straws, paper plates, CDs and money.
Post 2689 membership is also donating $1000 for supplies at Camp Atterbury. Over 128,000 troops went through Camp Atterbury last year. The new USO Club will be beneficial for our troops in their transition time. Anyone wishing to donate may drop off items or money through April 1st. at the VFW 2689 Post Home, 220 West Park Dr., earmarked for USO.
