Douglas (Doug) Johnson

Douglas (Doug) Johnson, 47, of Huntington died at 6:00 PM at his residence on Thursday, October 29, 2009. Mr. Johnson worked as an equipment operator for the Huntington County Highway Department for over 20 years. He was a 1980 graduate of Huntington North High School. He was incredibly proud of his children and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, serving as a volunteer coach for Huntington County Baseball, the PAL and the Salvation Army teams.

He was born August 4, 1962 in Huntington to Don W. and M. Jean (Smith) Johnson. He was united in marriage to Laura (Goetz) Johnson on March 26, 2009 in Las Vegas, NV. His wife survives.

In addition to his wife, Doug is survived by his parents, Don and Jean Johnson of Huntington; his children Lucas, Lauren and Larissa Johnson at home and their mother, Lori Johnson of Huntington; two stepsons, Nate and Zach Goetz, at home; two brothers, Mike (Karen) Johnson of Poneto, IN and Sam (Aimee) Johnson of Middleville, MI; two sisters, Michelle (Jim) Paxton of Bluffton and Kathy (Joe) Stephan of Lagro; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 2, 2009 from 2:00 – 8:00 PM at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel with Father Ron Rieder officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service.

Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Preferred memorials in honor of Doug can be made to the Johnson Children Educational Trust Fund, c/o Bippus State Bank, 150 Hauenstein Road, Huntington, IN 46750.
