Gloria L. Wall, age 64, of Huntington, died at 5:41 a.m. Monday (January 16, 2012) at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
Gloria was born on February 16, 1947, in Fort Wayne, the daughter of Willard J. and Wanda (Putman) Leonard. She was a 1965 graduate of Clear Creek High School. She continued her education at Purdue University earning her Bachelors’ Degree in Consumer Family Sciences and a Master’s Degree from Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts. Gloria married James F. Wall on June 28, 1974 in Huntington.
Gloria was a homemaker and worked as a Registered Dietician for Parkview, St. Joseph and Huntington hospitals. In 1977, she was named Young Dietician of the Year with the Indiana Dietetic Association. She also did consulting work for Pathfinders and other area organizations. Gloria was a Regional Program Specialist for the Northeast Indiana area employed by IN*SOURCE, a Parent Advocates Group. She was Governor appointed to the Commission for Rehab Services serving in her second 3-year term. Gloria was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she had served on the Board of Trustee’s. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and member and Past President of the Fort Wayne Doll Club. Gloria was a Past President of the Huntington County Community School Board for 4 years.
Survivors include her husband of 37 years – James F. Wall of Huntington; one son – J. Ryan (Kristy Thacker) Wall of Huntington; one daughter – Erin R. Wall of Huntington; her mother – Wanda Leonard of Fort Wayne; one brother – Daniel (Lydia) Leonard of Huntington; and two grandsons – Dylan Wall and Alexander Wall both of Huntington. Her father preceded her in death.
Visitation will be 3 - 7 p.m. Thursday (January 19, 2012) at Bailey-Love Mortuary. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday (January 20, 2012) at Trinity United Methodist Church, 530 Guilford Street, Huntington with visitation at 9 a.m. Rev. David Ballinger will officiate. Burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Huntington.
