Larry “Tiny” Taylor, 75, of Roanoke, IN passed away at 7:15 P.M. Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mr. Taylor was born February 8, 1936 in Huntington County to Fred and Mabel Gray Taylor. His parents preceded him in death. He graduated from Roanoke High School in 1954. Larry married Terri Grant November 22, 1969 in White Pigeon, MI. She survives in Roanoke.
Mr. Taylor was a professional truck driver for Hiner Transport for 30 years and retired from Francis Trucking, Muncie, IN. In 1997. “Tiny” was recognized by the National Trucking Association as Driver of the Year and received numerous other driving and safety awards. Prior to entering the trucking industry, he was a Jackson Township farmer. Mr. Taylor was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Roanoke.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Chad (Monica) Taylor, Roanoke and Brandon (Jasmin) Taylor, Roanoke, a sister: Judy Taylor, Van Nuys, California, five grandchildren: Jaren Taylor, Autumn Taylor, Courtney Taylor, Austin Taylor, and Wyatt Taylor.
Calling will be from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, April 18, 2011 at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. Additional calling is 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. with Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Roanoke Brethren Church, 415 S. Main St., Roanoke with Rev. Kurt Snyder officiating. Burial will be private at a later date.
Preferred memorial are to the Taylor family or Roanoke Volunteer Fire Department in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750.
