Mitchell LeRoy Van Ness, III, age 19, of Huntington, died at 8:25 a.m. Tuesday (April 24, 2012) at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, after a seven year battle with cancer.
Mitchell was born on September 24, 1992 to Mitchell and Rochelle A. (Haneline)
Van Ness, Jr. in Fort Wayne. He graduated in 2011 from Huntington North High School.
He was a member of Faith Community Church of God, the Y.M.C.A and the Total Fitness all in Huntington.
Survivors include his mother and father - Rochelle and Charles Griffey of Huntington; his father - Mitchell Van Ness, Jr. of Warren; three brothers – Mykell LeRoy Van Ness of Huntington, Daniel (Marcey) Wright of Van Buren and C. J. Griffey of Huntington; four sisters – Richelle Griffey of Huntington, Grace Griffey of Huntington, Hope Griffey of Huntington and Sarah Wright of Van Buren; grandparents – Fred (Donna Belle) Haneline of Roanoke, Gloria Bolinger of Warren and Mitchell LeRoy (Barbara) Van Ness, Sr. of Warren; aunts – Christina A. Haneline of Fort Wayne and Clara Faith Griffey of Anderson; and numerous uncles and aunts. His grandmother, Louise Drudge Haneline preceded him in death.
Visitation will be 2 - 8 p.m. Friday (April 27, 2012) at Bailey-Love Mortuary. Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. on Saturday (April 28, 2012) with visitation from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. prior to the service at Bailey-Love Mortuary. Pastor Austin Pettigrew will officiate.
