Mona M. Case

Mona M. Case, 78, died at 1:25 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012 at her home. She had been in failing health for the past two years.

She was born May 24, 1934 in Ithaca, New York a daughter of the late Lawrence S. and Kathleen (Molowa) Powers. Her formative years were spent in Cortland and Ithaca where she graduated High School. She went on to Cornell University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Government.

Following her graduation, she took a job with the Immigration Service in New York, New York. Returning to Ithaca, she became a middle school teacher.

On April 20, 1963, she was united in marriage to Neil A. Case in Ithaca, NY where they made their home. Later the couple moved to Pulaski County, Indiana and then Huntington County where Neil had taken a job with Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

She continued her career as a teacher for Marion Community Schools. After leaving teaching, she worked for Huntington County Family Services and then for the Huntington County Planning Commission for over 5 years. She and her husband retired to the Albion area.

Her memberships included St Paul of the Cross Catholic Church.

Surviving include her husband Neil; four children, Laura Case, Albion, Carl (Rachel) Case, Wawaka, Mark (Brian Zak) Case, Utica, NY, and Sara (Tim) Landrum, Huntington, and a sister, Kathleen (Querino) Orzino, Ithaca, NY.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with Father Gary Sigler the officiant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
