Sandra (Sandy) A. Diffenbaugh, 58, Huntington, passed away at 3:20 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at her home.
Mrs. Diffenbaugh was born December 29, 1952 in Fort Wayne to John and Esther (Harber) Hinen. Her father preceded her in death. She graduated from Huntington Catholic High School in 1971. She married Craig A. Diffenbaugh March 27, 1981 in Huntington. He survives in Huntington.
Mrs. Diffenbaugh worked as a dispatcher for the Huntington City Police and Fire Departments. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, CHRP, and Loose Ends. She also volunteered at the Knights of Columbus.
In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by a son: Nick (Melissa Jones) Diffenbaugh, Fort Wayne; three daughters: Heather (David) Bowman, Huntington, Karri Feighner, Fort Wayne, Sara (Matt) Neal, Huntington; five brothers: John (Phyllis) Hinen, Fort Wayne, Steve (Pat) Hinen, Fort Wayne, Larry (Lynn) Hinen, Columbia City, Dan (Wanda) Hinen, Fort Wayne, Ed (Lori) Hinen, Huntington; two sisters: Mary (Tim) Bowman, Huntington, Ann (Dennis) Boyer; Roanoke, and six grandchildren: Tori Neal, Serenity Diffenbaugh, Kaitlyn Neal, Nathan Bowman, Sydney Diffenbaugh and Emma Neal.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with recitation of the rosary at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. Additional visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2011 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry St., Huntington.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 26, 2011 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 860 N. Cherry St., Huntington with Father Ron Rieder officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials are to Northeast Indiana Cancer Services, or to Parkview Huntington Hospice, or to SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750.
