Velma McCracken

Velma McCracken, 84, Fort Wayne, IN, passed away on January 29, 2012 (7:20 AM) at Renaissance Village, Fort Wayne, Indiana.                  
     Mrs. McCracken was born January 25, 1928 to Frank and Esther Nunemaker Denton in Huntington, Indiana.   Her parents preceded her in death.
      Velma married Robert McCracken on Nov. 30, 1940 in Huntington. He preceded her in death in 1998.
     Mrs. McCracken was a member of the Eagle Lodge 3512 and American Legion Post 499, both in Fort Wayne, Indiana                      
     Survivors include: two daughters:  Vivian Rodman and husband James, Fort Wayne, Indiana and Erma and her husband Steve Schnitz, Huntington, Indiana. One sister Josephine Sands, Huntington, Indiana  and one brother, Richard and his wife Joyce Denton, Huntington, Indiana. Four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
      Preceding her in death were two brothers: Dean Denton and Dale Denton and one sister Frances Miller.   
      Calling will be on Thursday, February 2, 2012 from 3 to 5 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street Huntington, IN. 
     A memorial service will follow the calling at 5 p.m.
     Private burial will be at a later date.
     In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.
     McElhaney- Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN  is entrusted with the arrangements.
