To the Editor,
In regard to the H-P article (April 15, 2010) about the recent action of the Huntington Common Council toward a revised sign ordinance I have no opinion one way or the other. But the tone of the article leads one to believe the removal of the section preventing the use of profane language on business signs was due to the subject being a ‘First Amendment’ issue... Dear Editor,
When elected officials of any board or Congress feel they do not have to answer questions and explain themselves or make their public books open to responsible persons for examination, then they should be voted out of office. It is the people's money, it is the people's schools and it is the people's government... Read More...

Dear Editor,
I would like to ask the citizens of the city of Huntington to help the guys on the trash collection routes by consolidating trash in their block. For instance I am going to place my trash with my neighbors ( with his permission) and the neighbor on the other side is going to place his trash with the neighbor on the other side of him ( again with his permission) This way the truck only has to stop 3 times in our side of the block instead of 5 stops and that is less times the workers have to get up and down from the back of the truck... The primary is just around the corner! There have been debates, candidate introductions, and meet and greets here in Huntington and surrounding areas. I appreciate all the groups, candidates and people who have gotten involved to try and bring the power once again back to the people. Through this process I have had the opportunity to get to know almost all of the candidates, where they stand on the issues, and their moral compass and integrity on and off camera... Read More...

Dear Editor,
The last time I sent a letter to the editor of the Huntington Herald Press, was in appreciation to the newspaper and to my community for the love and support for myself and my family after my husband, Earl Bowman, was so cold heartedly killed. My love for this community still remains, but I have a deep concern that weighs heavy on my heart and mind that involves the local newspaper and its influence over the citizens of

To Thursday's anonymous caller:
You called anonymously to complain about political signs in the yard at my restaurant, Nick's Country Cafe. You gave me your one sided view and hung up before I had a chance to respond. You can easily imagine that we have a darn good reason to let candidates place their sign in our lawn... Read More...

I just wanted to send a Thank You out to those individuals that I have seen parked along the rural road walking and picking up trash at their own free will. I do not know your names, but I want you to know that it has not gone unnoticed, and it is truly appreciated! Kari Cripe

Dear Editor,
This afternoon I went to Wal-Mart. Due to it being a "holiday weekend", of course the store was crowded.
Unfortunately, while standing in line all the customers in the store including me, as well as the staff, were subjected to at least 15 solid minutes of ear-splitting, migraine-causing screaming by a toddler throwing a tantrum... Read More...
