Good afternoon,
I wish to state that I do not want any waters, potable or recreational, to be polluted. I support reasonable restrictions on my freedoms and reasonable actions to maintain a healthy and safe environment. If someone has a failing or failed on-site septic systems they should immediately correct that condition! In 1997 the US EPA and Congress issued a finding that private on-site septic systems that were properly sited, installed and maintained, provided homeowners a viable method to dispose of waste... I have a great idea for a new state law. When we don’t like who has been elected or what they’ve done, we should be allowed to quit paying our state taxes. Let’s call it the “Free citizen law”. Has a nice ring doesn’t it? We still get the roads, education, etc... Read More...

I would like to thank everyone in Huntington County for their support of The Salvation Army in Huntington County this year. It is especially gratifying to see businesses and media groups endorsing us as agents of positive change in the community.
It is in that spirit that I take the liberty of presuming that the community would like to know what needs The Salvation Army has as it prepares for a new year of serving God and humanity... Read More...

Remember, not only did you contribute to Social Security but your employer did too. It totaled 15% of your income before taxes. If you averaged only $30K over your working life, that's close to $220,500.
If you calculate the future value of $4,500 per year (yours & your employer's contribution) at a simple 5% (less than what the govt... Read More...

We would like to thank all the golfers, volunteers, sponsors, and Clear Creek Golf Course for being a part of our 2011 Annual Big Swing Golf Outing. Although the weather was a little challenging, the outing went well, the food was great, and all enjoyed the many prizes and awards presented.
8 teams participated on a fairly chilly and windy day... Read More...

I live in Andrews and a neighboring property from mine has been abandoned, or otherwise, repossessed by the bank. The yard has not been cared for and some weeds are six feet tall. The grass has only been mowed one time in two years and there is countless debris in the yard including a couch... Read More...

Dear HCCSC School Board Members,
I left the school board meeting on April 25th, 2011, thoroughly disappointed in the lack of preparation you displayed as a whole on the issues that you have been debating these last three months in regard to school closings. True, this is a difficult process maintaining educational advancements and fiscal discipline, but you, as a body should have been ready to take action and not continued the stalling tactics that you are now becoming known for... (Degrading a neighborhood through inappropriate zoning)
Who is responsible for the blight and despair we see daily as we travel throughout Huntington. There are plenty of contributors to blame for these appalling conditions, but I believe one of the biggest contributors to our declining neighborhoods is our very own Department of Community Development (The Planning Department)... Some dental insurers are changing the way they pay dental benefit claims. Not only does this cause confusion for thousands of Hoosiers, but it hinders proper dental care.

Front page of the Herald Press, announces that the Updike administration is recommending to City Council this Tuesday evening that the Park Board be abolished — with the Mayor citing the Umbaugh operational processes study as his rationale.
In my opinion, the mayor’s move to abolish the Park Board has nothing to do with the Umbaugh study — I can’t even find the words “abolish” and “Park Board” in the study... Read More...
