A tough loss in the last inning to the Cincinnati Red Stockings in match 1 was partially soothed as the Ballists of Huntington County bounced back to take down the Cincinnati Buckeyes match 2 at Olde Republic Field this Sunday past. The 10U and the 14U teams will be playing starting at 10 a.m.

The local vintage base ball club, the Champion Hill Toppers, has changed where the games tomorrow will take place when two teams from Cincinnati, OH come to town.

Wednesday night saw the final two games of tournament action for HCB at Homier Park. In the 11 and 12 year old Reese league Novae, the top seed and regular season champion, was taking on the Huntington Optimist who had worked they way through the loser’s bracket.

Tuesday was a busy night in HCB championship action with three championship games on three diamonds at the same time. On Diamond three in the 9-10 Mays league Roanoke’s D&D Sales and Body came in as the regular season champion and tournament top seed. HCB tourney action on Monday night crowned two new champions. In the 7-8 year old Clemente baseball league Fredericks Photography was representing the winner’s bracket while Kiwanis had worked their way through the loser’s bracket after dropping their first game of the tournament.

Polar Seal takes two from the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in the 14U Girls softball final to crown the first HCB champion of the year.

The Huntington Heat baseball squad beat the Leo Storm 10-2 and 4-3 on Wednesday evening at the Police Athletic League diamond on Riverside Drive in Huntington, boosting the Heat's record to 36-13 overall.

Four area boys help the 12 and under Flippin Frogs baseball team win its third tournament of the year, winning the Newton Park Summer Classic in Lakeville. The Frogs have also won the BPA I -94 tournament in Galesburg, Michigan and the Battle of the Bats in Monroeville. The Huntington Champion Hill Toppers Base Ball Club accepted the invitation of the Springfield Long Nine Club and traveled to New Salem, Illinois to play the grand game on the same field where our good President Lincoln walked and grew into young manhood.
