Sand Lot Tournament Results

By John Nelson on Monday, July 25th, 2011 | Bookmark and Share

The double elimination tournament recently wrapped up the season for Roanoke Youth Sports’ Sand Lot division.  Bippus State Bank won the championship game as they defeated Frederick’s Photography 13-4.  Great plays were common and there were plenty of excellent pitching and superb hits as the kids put on an impressive display of baseball and good sportsmanship.

Other teams participating in the regular season and the tournament included Sierra Clinical, MarkleBank, and Roanoke American Legion Post 160.  The Sand Lot program just wrapped up its 4th year and has seen its ranks grow each year.  The program is open to youth ages nine to thirteen and promotes healthy competition, the development of character, and an opportunity for kids to play baseball under the lights at Roanoke Park.

Roanoke Youth Sports is a not-for-profit organization committed to providing area youth with opportunities to participate in baseball, tee-ball, softball, and soccer.  This year, over 250 youth played on RYS baseball, softball, and tee-ball teams.  Roanoke Youth Sports’ Board of Directors sincerely thanks the sponsors, coaches, parents, and the Roanoke Park Board for their assistance over the season.
