The Huntington North Viking bowling team took on host Bellmont Wednesday afternoon at Villa Lanes in Decatur. It was the first high school match in Decatur in four years after the center closed in 2007, reopening this September. It was a grand reopening for the Vikings and a match to remember as the Vikings rolled 1,228 the first game against Bellmont’s 857.  Freshman Zac Tackett rolled 279 to lead the Viking attack, followed by Tyler Carroll with 255, Tyler Krepp with 243, Adam Shoemaker 229 and Connor Brown 222. It’s the highest team game in a match in Viking bowling history and the highest team game in the state so far this season. It fell just shy of the all-time Adam’s county high team game of 1231.The Vikings rolled 42 strikes in the game.

Coach Jim Bischoff said “It was amazing and fun to watch. They were wood lanes and were moving a little. They got off to a little bit of a slow start the first couple of frames, but settled in and just took over”.

In game two the Vikings beat Bellmont 1,008-916, and beat Bellmont 18-2 in the match. Shoemaker led the Vikes with 220. Eli Little had 217, Tackett 215, Carroll 199 and Jon Smart 157. Derek Boyer had 246 and Josh Montgomery had 232 to lead Bellmont. Their two game total of 2,236 is also high in the state so far.

The Vikings are 6-0 on the season, have a team average of 1071 and take on Bellmont again next Wednesday at The Brown Bowl in Portland in a position round match. The match begins at 5:00pm.
