Three cheers for the Vikings

The Huntington North Cheerleading team hosted the Huntington North Cheer Invitational on Saturday with individual and team competitions. Huntington's own Heidi Nissley won the individual competition beating out Columbia City's Kelly Hillesheim and Brooke Johnson.

In the middle school division, Riverview Middle School placed second behind Wawasee Middle School. The Vikings' freshman cheerleaders placed third behind Bishop Dwenger (1st) and Warsaw (2nd). The junior varsity team came in fourth behind Bishop Dwenger (1st), Warsaw (2nd) and Elkhart Central (3rd).

In the varsity event, the Lady Vikes came in fifth place ahead of area rival Marion (6th) but behind the winner Bishop Dwenger (1st), Elkhart Central (2nd), Bellmont (3rd), and Columbia City (4th).
