The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced its 2012 Daktronics Cross Country NAIA Scholar Athletes and among the list of honorees were four Huntington University student-athletes.

The HU women’s cross country team wrapped up its spectacular season over the weekend by bringing home a 20th place finish at the 33rd annual NAIA Women’s Cross Country National Championships held at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site in Vancouver, Wash.

The CMS Cross Country team ran against Marion McCulloch on 9/18. The boys team was victorious 19-42 behind a 1st place overall for Dillon Valenti, 2nd place by David Spencer, and 3rd by Dawson Hertel. Jacob Foster and Evan Kropf rounded out the team scoring.

Huntington University sophomore Gretchen Spahr (Huntington, Ind., Huntington North High School) was named Crossroads League Runner of the Week for the week of September 17-23, 2012, for her outstanding efforts at the Indiana Intercolleigates this past weekend.
Competing against 214 athletes representing 26 different schools, eight of which were NCAA Division I institutions, Spahr ran a 19:18 good for a 40th place finish overall and a ninth place finish among the non-NCAA Division 1 competition... Read More...

Running against the likes of IU and Purdue over the weekend at the Indiana Intercollegiates at Indiana State University, the 21st-ranked HU women’s cross country team finished 12th out 26 teams with 214 points while the men’s squad finished 15th out of 27 teams with 467 points.
